Germany to exhibit Iranian historical objects: Official

Nearly 450 historical objects are planned to be exhibited in the German city of Bonn, an Iranian official says.

Nearly 450 historical objects are planned to be displayed during an exhibition in the German city of Bonn later this week, an Iranian official says.

The exhibition, displaying 446 historical objects of Iran, is slated to be launched in Bonn on Thursday, April 13, Director of Iran's Museums and Historical Properties Office Mohammad Reza Kargar said.

The historical items date back to the 7th millennium BC, to the Achaemenid period (550-330 BC). Kargar has compared the items relevance to Iran’s culture, history, and civilization.

He also noted that plans for the exhibition had been in the making for three years.

Kargar went on to say that the exhibition will be launched with a number of political, scientific and cultural figures in attendance.

Persian has a long history of more than 2,500 years, which can be divided into three phases: Old Persian (circa 600-300 BC), written in Cuneiform, corresponding with the time of the Achaemenid Empire; Middle Persian (circa 300 BC-800 AD), the official language of the Sassanid Empire; and Modern Persian (since 800 AD), which has a history of more than 1,200 years and is spoken to this day.
